Chevrefils School No. 2277 1936
The story of Broadlands is rooted in land, legacy, and care. Named after a region in the prairies of Manitoba — Treaty 1 Territory — Broadlands is where my Mémère, Alice, was born, where my Pépère, Albert, farmed for much of his life, and where they both now rest. Humble and resilient people, they raised their family on the spoils of hard work, a deep love for gardening, a shared sense of humor, and a way of living that cherished simplicity over excess.

They kept their belongings for decades. They mended, reused, and found joy in the everyday. Their life was never about accumulating more, but about caring for what they had, and each other. Broadlands Co. is a continuation of that way of being.
Everything we make is guided by their values and shaped by a circular mindset. Garments are designed, patterned, and sewn by hand in Bozeman, Montana, using natural fibers and sustainably sourced or reclaimed materials. We work in small batches or made-to-order, minimizing waste and maximizing longevity. None of our production is outsourced, each piece is made by founder Holly Welwood, with intention and care.

With a background in technical design and a love of textile art, Holly brings a blend of structure and softness to her work. Many garments incorporate quilting, natural dye, or patchwork, tactile processes that connect us back to something older, slower, and more human.
Broadlands isn’t just about clothes. It’s about remembering how to tend to things with respect. It’s about clothing that’s meant to be lived in, worn hard, and passed down. And it’s about making space for a different pace of life, one rooted in care, connection, and presence.
Every stitch carries that intention. Every piece is a quiet tribute to the ones who came before and taught us how to live with less, be more present, and take care of what matters.
